Office Portrait: Test of the new 43" umbrella.

I got my new 43" shoot through umbrella from Cowboy Studio, so I brought it to work and grabbed a workmate to help out.

This was the result.

Pretty good for a 10' x 10' office.

Nice shot. Try short lighting instead of the broad lighting setup to really take advantage of the umbrella's "wrap around effect".

I'm going to buy a shower curtain and pvc today and build a massive softbox....we'll see how that goes.

Please pardon my ignorance but what are "short lighting" & " broad lighting" setups?

Really simply put, broad lighting lights the side of the subject facing the camera as was in his first shot above. Short lighting is the opposite, where the side of the subject facing the camera is in the shadow area as in his 2nd shot above. Google "broad lighting-short lighting" for a more detailed explanation.
