I had so much fun with this camera all afternoon. I'm not fond of the 55-300mm lens. the following pics were taken with it and they were the best of 100+ pics. I'm practicing with the 50mm tomorrow. My favorite lens i have is actually the 18-105 that comes with the camera. Ive always enjoyed that lens. anyway.....enjoy :)

Thank you! Only that most of the photos were blurry and it took a while to focus. I'm going to use it at weddings when I'm stuck in the back of the church. Maybe it's just that I've only used it once....at my next job it might become one of my favs!

One practice composition suggestion: when shooting a vertical subject, like images 1, 2, & 4, turn your camera 90-degrees to match orientation of subject.

Very appealing shots! Particularly the first one on the swing.
My D7000 came with a 18-105 plus a 55-300. I sold both. I liked the 18-105 but I fully agree with you concerning the 55-300. Although it was OK otherwise it was slow to focus and not particularly positive to lock on. I bought an 18-200 VR II, being the best Nikon "walk around" lens right now. The point of all this is, consider replacing the 55-300 with a Nikon 70-300 VR. It auto focuses very quickly and locks on solidly and sharpness and overall picture quality are up there with the best. The good quality of your "keepers" indicate that the blurry shots you complain of are caused either by camera shake or simply that they are out of focus. VR would be of great help however something to check with your D7000 is that a1 and a2 in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU are set to "focus" rather than "release" to ensure that the lens has locked on to perfect focus before the shutter fires. Enjoy !

thats why I asked you about the 55/300...I use to have the 70/300 and it was very sharp...but now I just got the 55/300 and think I liked the 70/300 better also!
