Limpkins are generally found in the brush but recently I found this fella posing on a stump and loudly calling me to come take his photo. Naturally I agreed to his request.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you for commenting. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I see you shoot Nikon so if I may offer a glass upgrade suggestion. Going to the really big stuff is a bank breaker but the 300mm f4 prime lens is very sharp, light weight and not too expensive. ( A bit over $1000) I used it for years before I got my 200-400mm f4 and was very happy with it. It is still quite sharp with a tc1.4 attached and even very good with a tc1.7 (although you will need really good light and it does tend to hunt. Any of these combination will get you excellent results and I promise you will be happy. I still have my 300mm f4 and use it for birds in flight and for outings when I do not want to carry the full big rig.

Check it out.

Would the tc1.4 do any good with the 55-300 that I have now?

According to Nikon's website the Nikon tc's are matched to the 55-300 lens. The problem will be that it will make that 5.6 lens into an F8 plus. Nikon says their tc will not auto focus with a lens over f4 so you will be pushing the focus issue. Then due to the high f-stop you will have to either raise the ISO or really drop the shutter speed. Thus you will just opening more issues.

Sorry, there just isn't a "cheap" fix. Try renting the 300mm f4 prime and see what you think of it. Primes always handle tc's much better than zoom lenses.

Thanks for looking. "Dare to Dream"? I do that everytime I take the camera out. Always hoping for the "right" shot. When I saw this guy and on the stump (wow, great background) I actually ran part way to get in position to get the shot. I'm really getting to old for this stuff.
