Many thanks to all of you that commented on my rodeo pictures posted yesterday. Since people liked them, I thought as I go through my folder (858 pictures) and find something else that looks good, I will post them. For the those of you who care about these things, I used a Canon 60D with a Canon 35-350L lens, 400 ISO, SS 1/1000th, and let the camera compute the aperture. I shot in high speed continuous with back-button focusing to keep the focus locked on the fast moving subjects (or at least attempting to!). I was close to 80 yards away from the subjects so keeping the center focusing dot on the horse wasn't that easy. Maybe next time I will try activating all the focusing spots and see how that works. Again, thanks for your kind words and if you have any ideas that would improve my technique, I would love to hear them.

In this image, I would like to the ground under the horse.
Looks like a lot of air time!!
I just can't see it.
I think it would add a lot to your image.
Hope this is helpful!

Pat,
Great Suggestion! I have modified the crop so you can see more of the ground. This way you can really see how high this horse has jumped straight up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Much better, love the rodeo. Not going this year, way to cold for me. Will miss the photo time.
Gotta be crazy to be on the horse. I feel his pain. Awesome shot.
