I ventured out in less than perfect conditions to photograph these guys (and a gal). It was 19 degrees and the wind was blowing at about 40 mph. In spite of the "wonderful" weather conditions I found myself in a really good spot to watch these mallards (and a couple of teals) seek refuge in a protected inlet on the Ogunquit River in Maine. There were at least 60 birds huddled together but the real action was the ones flying into the scene.
"Putting the brakes on" is great!

Neat series and nice work for such poor light and weather conditions.
