Mt. Mckinley and Fire Island

The weather was beautiful here in Anchorage today, so I finally got to test my freshly cleaned Minolta AF 135 mm lens after the major overhaul.
Mt. Mckinley stood out clear in the blue skies today. You can see wind blown snow whisping to the lee side of the mountain.
The Fire Island Wind Turbine project started generating power in August of last year, generating enough energy to power 9600 residential homes in the City of Anchorage...alternative power at it's best. :-)

The weather was beautiful here in Anchorage today,... (show quote)

After visiting Denali this year and doing a little research I have decided to make a campaign out of this.

The proper name for the mountain is Denali. It has been called that for thousands of years by the native people and is disrespectful to try and change its name to that of an Ohio politician who never even saw Alaska.

The State of Alaska has clarified that the name of the largest mountain in North America is Denali with a State memorial.

It is only some dippy legislators in Ohio that keep it with the wrong name on Federal maps through snaky legal maneuvers. They are welcome to name a mountain in Ohio after their favorite son.
