So thats the reason no commercial plates are allowed on either the Northern State or Southern State Pkwy. I allways wondered why ?? That is why its called the Robert Moses State Park, and many other things on Long Island were named after him........Mike
What a great series, thanks for post.
You are welcome Daryl, glad you enjoyed..............Mike
Born and raised in Queens, got stuck going to my first baseball game at Ebbets Field.
Spent many a summer's day at Coney Island.
I do remember the Dime subway ride.
Vague memories of the Trolley on Queens Blvd.
I did not see the SPOOK house in Coney Island... I miss the egg creams, cotton candy and jelly apples... The 3subway lines that also went to Coney Island was the Sea Beach, West End and the Brittion Beach...
Also raised in Queens here...... But spent a lot of time in Brooklyn. Abuts ,uncles, cousins. Remember all , but , those very early ones. The kitchen sink!! Wow. Often at Jahns in high school. Dugans!!! Picked some great ones. Thanks so much. Henry
Thanks for posting this. I was born in the Bronx and grew up in Queens, so this brought back lots of memories.

I'm of the younger generation and grew up in Brooklyn NY. I was born in 1970 and was born on 59th street between 7th and 8th avenues which had a lot of Norwegians in the community. Most of my growing up was in the Bay Ridge/Sunset Park area - 62nd st between 4th and 5th avenue. My dad was a cop at the 68 precinct, 66 precinct, 72 precinct, 71 precinct and then One Police Plaza. He grew up in Park Slope and ran around in the old train yards.
The area that had Norwegians is now a mini China town. I used to ride my bike all the way to Coney Island along Shore Road pathway. It's great to remember my youth.
