Just wash your hands before you touch your new camera
Good luck with your fine new camera! Read the manual. Read it again. When your done, read it some more! You may want to download that manual from the canon website. I find it easier to read and find specific things in it when using the PDF version. After my dog ate the original, I got the PDF and have forgiven the little spoiled brat! LOL
I have the T1i and I love it. I'm sure you will love your camera too.
If you want to shoot video, look for lenses with the "STM" attached to the description. Although compatible with other Canons, these were made especially for the T4i. These lenses allow for continuous, smooth auto focus while shooting video. I don't shoot video, so I cant give much input. I bought the Canon 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens for my T2i. It is nice and sharp, and f/2.8 capabilities are always nice. B&H still has it on sale fro $149. Similiar to the "nifty fifty", it has been dubbed the "shorty forty".
