O.K, i know this is a very general and broad question, but here it is. Does this lens have a particular issue at a certain point in it's age? Im looking at one used with an April 2008 manufacture date. I used to heve one a few years ago, but only kept it for about 3 months. I loved it and always wanted another one.

i bought a used one on eBay and really liked it but decided to get a new one with IS--like it a lot but if you are just using it for macro IS is probably a luxury--I plan to use it for portraits and other types of shots thought
