I watched a webinar yesterday and was impressed. I decided to buy the newly released "B&W Effects 2" from Topaz Labs this morning. Google Chrome gave me warnings about "malware" I've never seen on a computer screen.
Is it my computer or is it universal?
If you have Google Chrome, would you do two things:
- Do a Google search and see if the "This site may harm your computer" message shows up like in the attached screen capture.
- Try to go to
http://www.topazlabs.com/ and see if a warning pops up like in the attached screen shot.
Thanks.
Bill
PS: Google bought Nik, Topaz's competitor. This is really weird if the buyer of Nik, is blocking access to Topaz!
got the same warning. No clue why.
Bubu
Loc: Out of this solar system
Got same warning from Syncmate software web page, a program that does not accept a key that I bought for $40.00. The company did not want to refund the money, even though I claimed it through PayPal. What happened? PayPal ruled against me, so I lost $40.00 and I cannot use the program. %#^**^*%%#
Maybe there is a malware!
Very strange, if you search Topaz through BING it brings up a list and link and allows you in with no warning.
I did some google searches. Apparently it is some sort of pop up ad from an advertising company that got hacked.

So would I be correct in assuming that unless you click on the pop up ad you are ok or should the site be avoided until fixed? I dropped an email to Sales@topaz-usa but haven't heard back you

That was the webinar that I missed, but it's going to be available on their site and also on youtube, edited.
That link worked OK for me with Internet Explorer.

It was good enough that I bought my fourth Topaz. Basically, Tony Sweet went through his process on about 5 photos. There is a 30% discount for a day or two if you type in "tonyweb1".
There is another one in an hour on the B&W 2 upgrade.

Topaz answered my email with an explanation. They posted it on their blog:
http://www.topazlabs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14093 (Note that if you click on this using Chrome, you may still get the big red screen. Topaz has to wait until Google fixes it. And, since Google bought Nik, Google is a Topaz competitor. If I worked at Topaz, I would be having a severe mental, and perhaps legal, reaction!)
I have had no trouble accessing their site with Windows Explorer and their download passed a scan with my antivirus software. The problem lies solely with Google Chrome.
In the meantime, I watched a webinar on the new Topaz B&W Effects 2. It impressed me a lot. It should be on a discounted sale when released next week. I'm guessing it will be around $40.
I'm anxious to try it on Arizona desert landscapes.
No, I don't have any financial or any other association with Topaz beyond being an impressed customer.

Thanks for the update, I never received an answer to my inquiry but I imagine that they were deluged with email.
And another reason not to use Gooble.
