My husband I were sitting in his car by the lake, gulls were flying all around so I threw a french fry on the hood of the car, and the gull landed. I was alittle suprised and grabbed my camera, so some of the pictures are blurry but I couldn't react fast enough. since I'm still learning to shoot with shutter speed and aperture. But I think some are ok, especially being taken through the windshield. What do you think?

They turned out nice! Hope you didn't get scratches on your hood.

You're lucky! I went to do the same thing down in Hastings and a sneaky bird was on the roof. When I opened the window to throw a chip out it nearly had my finger off. Good photos though.

I think you got some great shots regardless of not being totally prepared! Way to go!

I think you'd have found that a steady supply of French fries would have given you all the close-ups that you wanted. (I'd swear he was posing for you).

Never seen better then #1. All are good shots. French fries will keep them there all day or as long as you want them. The EYE has it. thanks for sharing.

If you get the eye nearest to you in focus you have a great shot. Don't worry about the beak. If you wanted it in focus you change the aperture but this is a great shot. In the last shot the gull should have warned you it was going to fly off. Just looking at you isn't enough communication. Hate it when birds don't communicate! A little practice and you will have it all perfect!

I think these are very nice and tk has some good suggestions. I'm glad the gull put on some mascara for her photo shoot.

BTW Speaking of windshields...I'm pretty sure this bird has been sleeping in the tree above my husbands car!
