Hi, I read many photo magazines and visit many photo web sites also. They all give me good advice about how to make better photos and show me how to use new techniques on the computer. However none have shown me how to make a living as a photographer. I'm not interested in wedding photos, that's the obvious, I'm looking for companies that buy photos. Who is paying for photo projects. Anyone have a unique idea on how to make a buck at doing what we love to do?
First and formost... actually know how to use your camera (not saying you don't but you would be amazed how many post asking how to make money as a photographer that just purchased their first "real" camera" ).
Second.. start with small assignments (read FREE or nearly FREE sessions) with small mom and pop type businesses, you need to make a name for yourself.
Commerical photography is a hard section of photography to break into. Corporations are known for using the same selected, trusted photographers over and over again. Breaking into the inner circle is nearly impossible.
