Many will find the title I chose for this post confusing, read the article, examine the pictures closely and put yourself back in time and I think you will see my point.
Several times I have seen Hoggers post questions and articles such as, why do you take pictures. I think this article answers that question completely.

I remember when that happened. I did not see it, but was within 5 miles of that location at that time. People looking at that photograph today have no idea of what the conflict was like in Vietnam at that time. It was the worst of the worst. We lost over 16,000 US Military in 1968 and most of them were in the first 4 months of that year. I was not surprised at the execution when I first saw the photograph. Third world countries have different rules, laws, values and actions. I say God rest his soul and God give peace to the General.

I can see why he won a Pulitzer Prize. Unfortunately, war is a necessary evil.
I want to thank each and every one of you who served during that time, your courage and your sacrifice both during the war and after your return will never be surpassed. The people who insulted and condemned you when you returned should forever be ashamed of their actions. You have my heartfelt appreciation and love.
