Looking to buy my first SLR. Opinions on what would work best best?

Hi all,
I am looking to buy my first SLR and wanted some opinions/ideas before I make my purchase. I will be shooting mostly Wildlife, Motor Sports, and landscape.
I'd like something that has a fast shutter speed and a quick continuous shooting rate. I have been seriously considering the Sony alpha a55 or 57 since they are a little older so they can be obtained relatively inexpensively and they have most of the features I want (continuous shooting at 10FPS...etc).
Any thoughts? suggestions?
Thanks,

I have the a57 and am well satisfied with it,burst mode is very good, the video is also very good and i found the menu excellent and easy to understand, I can recommend the a57.
Read reviews of each on the major review sites.
One of the main reasons for choosing a SLR is the ability to use a variety of lenses. Give some thought to what lenses you think you might want and see what's available for each camera. Third party lens makers usually make lenses for both Canon and Nikon cameras but not always for Sony. Also check the prices of lenses you think you might want and compare for each camera. Read reviews of those lenses.
My goto lens is a Canon 15-85. For me it's a great walk around lens when I don't want to carry other lenses. Nikon has a 16-85 but the closest Sony lense is a 18-70 which is not as wide or have the reach compared to the 15-85. I've found that even 15mm is sometimes not wide enough when shooting inside a house or in crowded places where you can't back up. In the end it depends on what ou will shoot.
Another factor I've found that is important at least to me is the low light capability. There are places I shoot that prohibit flash photography.
In the end whatever you choose you will probably be happy with. They all take great pictures and unless you're a pro many of the more technical differences don't make that much difference.
Just checked on Amazon. There is a Nikon D3000 bundle with kit lens 55-200 zoom, and a bag for 400.00. A bit of a dinosaur to be sure but hard to resist for that price
I'll probably use something in the 50-55 to 70-80 range to walk around with. I'd eventually like to do some telephoto lens type shots and some macro shots. I am very impressed with the older Minolta lenses. Minolta seemed to have a high quality before their time and the more i read the more i figure it is that the lenses make much more of a difference than the camera does.
when shopping for cams the first thing i look at is image quality first since at the end of the day the end result is what matters, then look for the other features you need along with price. read the comparitive reviews on the various models for sony, nikon, and canon and narrow it down before you buy. but IMAGE QUALITY first.
