ummmm....I know what you're saying. We owe every service personnel
a vote of gratitude. However, the Thunderbirds are like a ballet act, only with multi million dollar high precision jet aircraft. They are a blast to watch and they do promote good relationships with the civilian population. But they never see combat.
Check again, the Thunderbird pilots are rotated in and out of regular service and at all times they maintain war-ready status.

You could be right about that. For that, they do deserve the accolades.
Also, each manuever that the Thunderbirds perform can be traced to an actual combat status position of flight or attack. They simply perform them in perfect sequence and some few feet apart from each other. Thunderbird pilots are from the regular rank of fighter pilots and rotate off of the T-Birds on a regular basis, returning to regular flight duty. They are also usually career AF pilots so the Thunderbirds duty is simply a segment of their total military service. But - Ain't they fantastic???

Your point?? Are you saying that only combat troops deserve recognition??
Just Google THUNDERBIRDS and you can read all about these pilots. All have come up through pilot training and regular AF deployments worldwide. The Thunderbirds are selected from the AF pilots and all have AF military background. Obviously they are the AF showpiece, but all have flown the down and dirty combat missions, etc. They just happen to have that little something special that makes them the elite pilot we see doing manuevors in the AF hottest equipment. The maneuvors that they perform are actual fighter maneuvors, just done in close formation, etc. But YES, they have a solid AF military background.

I was "spouting off" to your statement "...vote of gratitude. However.........But they never see combat." Which to me was saying at the very least that because they never see combat, they deserve less recognition. You said it, I didn't and that is a fact that is WRONG. You were the one challenging her qualifications, not me. To me she represents much more than a airborne ballet team!
I stand by my question. "your point?"

Rob 48: That is my whole point is that this pilot has combat experience and it shouldn't make any difference!! DennisK pointed out in his post that:
"I know what you're saying. We owe every service personnel
a vote of gratitude. However, the Thunderbirds are like a ballet act, only with multi million dollar high precision jet aircraft. They are a blast to watch and they do promote good relationships with the civilian population. But they never see combat.[/quote]
It is my contention that I don't care if this pilot was on desk duty in the Pentagon or a cook in South Korea or a clerk in Ohio, do only those who serve in combat deserve thanks? I think not! That is why I asked DennisK to clarify his point of his post but he thought I was "spouting off" If DennisK truly believes that noncombat troops deserve any less thanks then yes, I was spouting off and stand by it. If that is not his intent, my apologies but that is why I asked for the clarification.
PS I'm an Air Force brat and knew each of the Thunderbirds pilots are fully qualified fighter pilots....
I am also a USAF jet mech. and I salute her service and it makes me proud that she is on our side. Go USAF>>>Go Thunderbirds.
Its not just respect or a debt of gratitude that we owe the military, we owe them whatever they need to get back to as near a normal life after combat, no matter the cost. Our country has ALWAYS failed to live up to our obligations to those who served. I thought this war might be different, but then Bachman says she want to cut wounded military health benefits.
