Has any one used or uses a double harness for two cameras. Any thoughts on which one to buy? Preferably not connecting via the tripod mount, but by the cameras own side attachements.

Have a look here:
http://optechusa.com/straps/dual-harness.html

I've had their bino-harness for some years now <http://optechusa.com/bino-cam-harness.html> and am very pleased with it.

Also found their mail-order service very good and timely.

Is there any problem in balancing different sizes of camera/lens combinations on either side. For example 150-500 lens/camera on one side and a 10-20mm lens/camera on the other?

So quite a difference in the balance and weight on one side compared to the other?

I put the longer lens at the bottom...so I'm not bang'n them into each other...but with that lens...150-500..check the weight on it first. I think its rated for 25 pounds...or maybe 16...something like that.

OpTech is the way to go. I tried their Dual Harness as well as their Double Sling model, and kept the Double Sling because of its better fit and easier access to your cameras. The Dual Harness allowed way too much swing of the gear also while the Double Sling kept them close to the body so they swung around less as you walked through the woods.

I have just been retained by a camera equipment supplier (who I am not at liberty to name right now) to do a field test of the OpTech Sling compared to the Black Rapid Dual Strap and the CAPA Dual Camera Strap systems. Watch for the results as I will post them here in a week or two.

Thanks Mt. I will look forward to the results, but as I will be travelling to Morrocco, on a wildlife/bird watching trip shortly. I will order the double sling from Amazon today, so that it arrives to give me time to get accustomed to it before my trip.

I own the x-large optech and I find it very comfortable and good price works well...

I am using the CottonCarrier system for two cameras. Very well made and thought out. Well balanced and the two camera system comes with adapters so as not to blank off the tripod mount. I.e. camera can be carried via the system and put straight onto a tripod.

I've been using OpTech for soem time - which ever one it is that hangs a camera under each are or one down your front. (Started out using a binocular harenss) I've carried a camera under one arm and a monopod under the other.
