Quote:Film Photography was an art and a craft.
Now digital images are captured with ease, and manipulated in way previously never imagined. As a result, the photographic image has lost its authority. We used to say, "and I've got the pictures to prove it." A picture now might be "proving" no more than the image makers skill with Photoshop.::End of quote::

Who you are kiddin'?
And working with Photoshop = IS creativity, not only repair bat frames....
So you never spend time in "Dark Room",and manipulate your photos?
Really? Did you actually TRY to make another hanger (digital)for your wall?Maybe not. Why? Just to keep the old one as THE BEST?
Did you explore macro world with your camera then, get any small or large bird in flight? Did you see any wife, kid, or grandpa(ma) take pictures?
And film photography was so expensive, only PRO could afford it, unless someone took your picture,(one studio in county or city) gimmi a break,i mean everything was so expensive, time and time again and again, always counting every frames left (and keep for next time) and making new batches of developer in dark room, cause old one didn't work for long.
I know, now we pay this in cost of cameras, software,(one time expense) but with digital come FREEDOM!!!!!
Now even Family photographers can be creative since there is minimal cost and it is very affordable. look in here at hedgehog how many house wife's,kids, teenagers, elderly(with shaky hand, or not) can afford to take pictures and please them self, families and even public.
Not always are the "old way" best way

One place that digital PP has caused a decline in value is in the courtroom. That is why many law enforcement agencies still use film. Evidence is stronger if it is more tamper-resistant.

There is no "best "way, there is only what works for you. There are problems with digital as well as film but they both are a wonderful part of the great art of photography. Digital has opened a world of wonderful opportunities to all and the film world is strong and well.

Who ever quoted that, I wonder if they choose a 1930s car that was assembled by hand or a modern car that has plenty of robots welding, assembling and painting? And were the hand built cars any better than a modern car?

I wonder if using a Polaroid was an art? It used film but not a darkroom. Or was it an example of dumbing down the art of photography? And what about the painting of Rembrandt, Van Goah (or however it's spelled) and the other greats? It was pretty much a given to take "artistic license", meaning the painting was not a true represention of the subject. Picaso kind of overdid it though. The way I see it, art is art regardless of whether you're using film, digital, watercolor, oil paint or whatever medium suits you. If one finds the result pleasing or worthy of comtemplation, that's good enough for me.

I never developed film because I is/was afraid of the chemicals used in post processing would cause, leukemia or brain cancer.
