Very Nice Douglas, I can never get those guys to sit still for very long and when they do, it always seems to be to far away. Hahaha. Oh well, I will keep pursuing!

Dragonflies have a habit of returning to the exact place where they were recently sunning themselves. I approach dragons quite slowly, and if they fly, I continue to move slowly to the best vantage point, then freeze. Usually within 1-minute, the dragon returns to the exact same spot, and I am waiting, pre-focused, ready to shoot. Moderate tele-photo lenses are recommended.

Nikonian72 is dead right as usual, they do return to the same spot, once I know where they are landing, I set up my tripod, focus on the twig or leaf and wait..bingo but it still takes patience and practice..:-)
