A stacked photo of a dead cockroach, difficult to photo when they won't die.
Canon100-mm macro with reverse-stacked Minolta 50-mm f/1.7, both focus with out front movement, on micro-focus rail.
Interesting study. I would like to enlarge to appreciate resolution & detail. In the future, please check the box labeled "(store original)", so we can all view enlarged image.
We are all interested in seeing a photo of your set-up on focus rail.
OK, new to this forum, I will provide a photo of the setup as I have had a European wasp wander inside...wrong house! Give me a day or two. With this configuration I can fill an aps-c frame (22.3 mm) with 7mm, not sure what that ratio is. BTW What is normal size to post ?

An APS-C sensor filled side-to-side with a 7-mm subject is 3:1 mag (3x life-size). Post as large as you want. The website will re-size, if needed.
Hi Nikonian, Here is a quick setup minolta 1.7 50mm reversed onto 100mm macro.on a 7D. 430ex on 1/4 power...white plastic diffuser, 3xLED .for focussing and fill usually use a couple of macro rails.
and the resulting 4 images, f16, 1/250, 400 iso were processed with combineZP. the setups vary as I don't have a permanent table top devoted to this fun activity. "the only good wasp is a dead one" they are aggressive and love soft drink cans and BBQ's .
I enjoy the setup challenge and on location subjects. and a fan of Macrostop.com
setup for wasp
4 shot stack
BTW the focus rails I use are the "el cheapos" from China.although when using the 100 Macro I used manual focussing..with the setup by simply moving the camera on the cloth. I have got the "DSLRcontroller" AP on a motorola tablet
but need time to work out focus pull and mirror lock up and flash combination.
Your 4-shot stack looks quite decent. My only suggestion is a bit more fill light on front of subject.
Quite right, it's not enough to run a single light source, the same rules apply portaits...working on it! thanks for critique
