These hybrid moth orchids just got bathed in their morning make-up and are now ready for the day.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I have been secretly waiting to see this category show up on UHH.

Appreciate your words, m009. These were taken a week ago at the Longwood Gardens Conservatory in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. They are currently in the midst of their annual orchid festival. Quite a treat.

This has to be a record snowfall year for you, right? Our relatives who live in Rushden and Finedon (mom married a yank at the end of WWII) said your side of the pond is seening plenty of the white stuff.

We found these hybrids in an hallway area away from the larger orchid displays. A lucky find for sure, yet I was lightly cursing my bad fortune for having left the 100mm macro & tripod at home that day. The 70-200 came thru, however. Appreciate your comment, Linda. This was easily the best photo of that day.

I was delighted with the close-ups (and quality of blurred backgrounds) from my 55-250 that I got last fall. I don't think I'd realized how much better they would look with that focal length than the 18-55. Always learning!

That makes two of us... in "always learning" mode. I picked up a MUCH better understanding of "bokeh" from a number of videos on YouTube. It is paying off now. Seeing and hearing gets me much further on a regular basis that reading about it, although reading is a fav past time.

Thanks, Bret. I got away with one here. Seldom do I try a handheld shot when I am on my knees! The 70-200 IS II attached to a 5D3 isn't exactly light.
