Anybody else have any experience with projecting images onto unusual "screens?"

We use the same technology in the theater I work in. You start with VERY deep pockets nothing in this is cheap. You need multiple projectors over laid over the projection area (like a dress or an entire stage). The media is loaded into a media server and the projected area is pixel mapped so the media server has reference points. The media server is connected to a control console. The image is projected over the entire projection area, and then it can be masked, manipulated, warped, or layered to any area within the projection area. The options are limitless! During live performances every component is times two, 100% backup running simultaneously for seamless transitions if or when something lets the smoke out of a projector, media server, console, or the multitude of cables that tie it all together. It also helps to have a couple of skateboard toting technical geniuses on the payroll to make this all work (and keep working).
The Grammys used (24) projectors not counting the (6) on Carrie Underwood's dress (3) primary and (3) backup. Each projector has a list price between 80 and 120 thousand dollars. Then you have the installation labor, media, and hours of console programming time for a three minute song.
Sounds like you have an interesting job. Must be fun to work for a company like that.

You need to see "Fantasmic" at Disney World! Movies are projected onto fountains/sprays of water.
