These are actually all very good poses but the skin tones are way off in all of the color photos. If you were to correct them in pp, they would look much better and perhaps "pop" a little. In the last photo that dark triangle really bugs the hell out of me. If you were to remove that and make it like the rest of the photo, it would be very good. In the B&W I would like to see more detail in her sweater but by adjusting this, you may lose something with the rest of the photo. I would leave it alone. Her hair looks fantastic in this one and it shows good depth. This is just how I see things. You did good overall.

I like the B&W the best...seems focus was somewhere else than on her eyes on most of these...are you using single focus? The hair is wonderful in the B&W..think that is where your focus was set...eyes are the best in this one...if you have PS maybe you can even out the area over her chest?? don't know if can be done but would make photo much better...skin tones are hard for me too...I am finding it takes LOTS of practice but soooooo worth it...keep snappin and keep showing us and before you know it you will see much improvement...nice posing and pretty subject ;)....keep posting please....helps us all.
With a second look at the first one...I think focus was pretty good on her eyes...such a pretty girl...

I will have to check on the skin tones. That triangle is part of the tunnel she is sitting in. Not sure what I can do about that. The sweater is an issue for sure. I did not catch that at all.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the comments. I have to say that it is hard for me to get sharp eyes. I used auto focus and did not achieve sharp eyes. So now I have to ask....How do I get sharp eyes?

I did notice on the first photo that it looked like the whites of her eyes were just too stark, there needs to be a little blur in them to have it look natural. I learned my technique from videos by "Photoshop Mama" (you can Google her). She is very knowledgeable and has excellent tutorials. She uses a curve adjustment layer with a layer mask to brighten up the whites of the eyes, and then puts a blur on that layer to smooth it out. By using a separate layer like this you can then go back and readjust the blur, and or adjust the opacity of the layer without affecting anything else. If I can find the video I will see if I can post a link to it.

beautiful eyes, portraits don't have to be tack sharp, and sometimes it is better if they aren't. I do agree that some PP on the skin tones, and you will have some real winners here. I like the effect of the shadow and light in the first one.

If her head is tilted, focus on the closest eye. If they are even, I just pick one out. You can try the bridge of the nose but sometimes that throws things off. You should not have to use manual focus. Even stopping down the aperture one more stop helps sometimes. There are all sorts of little things that you can do. It just takes practice. You will also need to figure out the quirks of the lens that you are using at the time.

Sorry Robin I have been away from a computer. All suggestion here sound good to me . Try with single focus and try to be at the closest eye to you and like it was stated here you just have to keep experimenting ;-) 8-) have fun!
