Hi everyone! I am Carly, I am brand new here and wanted to say "Hi"! and thank you for allowing me to join your community! I live in beautiful Lake Havasu City, AZ in a cute little condo with my cat Kittana and I am mostly happy. I am studying Photography and I am hoping to be able to get a few little suggestions and help along the way by running a few photos by you that I will be submitting to school for assessment-I am encouraged by constructive criticism and can honestly take it so feel free to be as honest as need be(yikes). I shoot with a Canon Tli. I have 2 lenses so far, both Canon, one is 18-55mm(kit lens) which I enjoy using and think is a fine lens! I also have a 55-250mm lens. I struggled for some time making that decision but in the end it seemed the logical choice. I am so happy to be part of photography! Aren't we lucky to be able to help people, not to mention ourselves, preserve memories and stop moments in time? I think it's a privilege, myself, so I really want to learn just as much as I can for as long as I can so that I can photograph in the most creative, candid, beautiful, ugly, wonderful, horrible ways....you know just whichever way may be important in getting the moment across.(I need to take a breath)! Well, it's nice to be part of a forum, I joined the one for school but haven't submitted anything but an intro there, eventually I will gain the confidence to do that but I feel I can be less intimidated here - that to me is important! Hi there Everyone and Thanks for having me!

This is the beautiful view from outside my office window. With a smidge of post processed color, don't need to much with these sunsets!

This is great! I am new here also. I love your picture. I look out my office window and all I see is the interstate. I found out by accident that you made a good choice in lenses. I wanted to start out right and I was on a budget. In addition to the 55mm kit lens, I bought a 200mm lens like you did. I did one more thing. I also bought a 30mm macro lens because I have a model railroad and the walls of the room are too close to the train table. This lens allows me to get up close and personal without having to stand way back which I can not do. Other than that, I don't use the macro lens much. The other two do just fine. Then I started asking around to professional and semi pro photographers and they all say the same thing-they usually carry only two lenses. A 55mm and a 200mm. Pretty cool huh?

very cool! I didn't get a macro lens, but what I did do was bought some extension tubes, you can add them to the lens and it give you the ability to take macro pics, very awesome. they were really cheap because i got them from ebay and ordered them from hong kong! I swear! It took a long time to get here but it was worth the wait/ Thanks for your message!

You are very welcome. I would like to see some of your pix taken with extension tubes. I am very curious.
