This was my first camera. Man I had a blast with this thing. I still break it out once in a while when I can find film for a decent price on Ebay. Been hooked ever since.
I still have every camera I've ever owned (less one that was stolen) this one included. I don't know how I've kept my kids and grandkids away from it!

The Polaroid was like a cultural event. It was definitely a different way to take pictures - unfolding the camera, pulling out and separating the film, wiping that stuff on the picture, sticking it to the cardboard backing. It was very handy getting a picture that fast.
Did you see the movie "Memento"? Very strange, but a Polaroid played a key role.

My first camea was a colored Polaroid the first year they came out. I found an album with a bunch of photos taken with it a couple of months ago. Has a mess of shots I took of my grandparents, talk about memories. Surprisingly all the photos were in good condition. It really took decent photos.

Fuji still makes B/W (and color) instant film for about 10 bucks a packet.

That's what I used to pay for a ten-pack of Polaroid. I wonder which Polaroid their film fits. That was something I saw a weak point for Polaroid. Every time they introduced a new camera, they had a new film pack for it.
The Impossible Project makes bw instant film as well. They bought up one of the Polaroid factories and have been reverse engineering the film.

http://the-impossible-project.com/At those prices, they won't have to keep the factory running 24/7.
