I'm not saying caution shouldn't rule but I thought I had read a long time ago that Cuba had a very low crime rate - the reason is that they don't coddle criminals. You do a crime and get caught, the stalag is a good punishment and it only goes down from there. Criminal rights are very limited. But you still should use caution.

You are a photographer and you will regret not bringing any camera to your trip. For me, i will only bring my smallest dslr with 1 lens and the lens should not be the bulky one. Another option is to get the better point & shoot cameras such as the Canon G series (G10, G11), S100 or Panasonic LX7. I used an LX7 in my recent trip to Asia. I also always place my camera inside an ordinary purse when not in used. Bringing a camera bag is the same as telling everyone that you have expensive equipment inside your bag. Enjoy.

That's one thing men hate about shopping with their wives. "Hold my purse while I try this on." I've been in that situation many times. I remember one time I was standing there by the changing room - holding the purse - and I could the eye of another hapless husband in the same situatioin. We just nodded and gave each other a sad smile.
I thought of bring an empty tool box with me to hold her purse, but I never did.

if you are a serious photographer you will want to take you camera where the good pictures are. a day at the beach is either for swimming or taking pictures.if you want to do both ,then you need someone dependable to watch the equipment while you are in the water.
