We're all done it. We get home and upload...and groan. I was so caught up in the moment, I didn't notice the tree growing out of his head. Don't leave me out here hanging - share your boo-boos!

Happens to me all the time. I took a pic of a beautiful buck last weekend, didn't have time to really compose the shot, and.....uh....there was the darned tree....arrrrgh! Whatcha gonna do??? lol. Nice capture of the deer, nonetheless.

It was an amazing morning. He saw me from a distance and was so curious, he kept walking toward me. There was no aggression in his body language but I knew if I moved, he'd be gone.

With the sharp subject, blurry background, and other merging background trees, I think the composition is good. It is an excellent shot. It's hard to criticize a deer photo in the forest with background trees.

Thank you for the lovely comment. I shoot with an eye toward entering images in contests - particularly BetterPhoto.com. And I know this would go nowhere!

Don't give up on it. It's a nice shoot. Enter it.
The tree is a little distracting, but not bad. Trying to take a picture of a Deer in the woods and not have a tree somewhere in the frame I think is impossible. Nice capture though.
I will share a boo-boo of mine. I ignored the rule of thirds in this one and put my subject in the middle of the frame.
Belle in the Bag
Sorry, that's not a boo-boo. The bag is an important part of the picture and pretty kitty should have space in front of her. Perfectly acceptable comp!

Knowing the "rule of thirds" is important.
Knowing when to
disregard it is just as important.
This was one of those times. Nice pic. :)

Well forbescat, at least you didn't cut the rack off...
Frank
Whoops
Actually I like the composition on both because the subjects are not just sitting in the middle, they start on the side. Both shots are very nicely done with the deer being very well focused to sharpness and the gentle softness on the cat shot. The tree coming out of the head of the deer is not the most desirable but has enough blur that it is not too distracting.
Although after a while the shadow grew on me ... a couple steps forward and it wouldn't be so distracting

LOL, that really did make me laugh out loud! His rack was just TOO wide!

You are so right...some times we take a stance and refuse to move those feet of ours. At least your boo-boo can be fixed and a very nice picture saved.
