Windows 8 Help Please

My new laptop came with Windows 8. I like most of the Windows 8 OS with the exception of the Charms Thing. Is there a way to attach it to the Desktop or the Task Bar? It keeps popping up when I don't want it to. If I get even near the side of the screen while working on something it pops up and I have to click to close it or it takes me all the way out of what I am working on and brings up the previous item I was on.
I purchased the Windows 8 Simplified Book and it doesn't even mention Charms, not even in the index. Help Please.

How proficient do you think you are dabbling with the registry? Not for the faint of heart, but if you do a back-up and set a restore point, you should be good to go. http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread.php/149299-Method-to-hide-the-Charms-Bar

Thanks all, I am not computer savvy enough to mess with the registry. But appreciate the links. Nothing comes up on charms in the control panel.

Go to Microsoft.com and ask for a fix.

Press windows key and c. This will show the charms. Same key sequence to remove the charms.

I bought a new HP computer 3 months ago and had so many problems with windows 8 I took it off and went back to windows 7. With windows 7 I have not had a problem sense. Sorry I just don't like window 8 for running a business on as it's just a mess.

Thanks Larry, I know I can bring it up and close it with the windows c command. But I want it to stop popping up when I don't want it to.
