Someday I'll make a theme book. In Philadelphia the benches around the museum area are utilized by homeless day and night. I saw a policeman checking up on them on two occasions in the morning. Brotherly Love

I see an unusual but interesting theme developing here.

These are interesting, Bebo1998. I keep coming back to #1 and Boulder,Co. Each provokes different emotion.

The one in Boulder actually had a sign for donations. His outfit was very colorful - loved the boots.
A couple from my travels. You see this often in many neighborhoods around the country.. Too bad...

Great photos. Think a theme book is a great idea :)
Thanks, Bill
I go more for the "restful" ones.

I think this has merit.
Titled with something like "America's Homeless Solitude" it could become quite a provocative publication.
It may take a few years to assemble the diversity of imagery from across the country, but it seems like a noble endeavor that will garner interest.
This subject naturally evokes emotions and a yearning for reading individual life stories to help understand their plights or choices.
I have not seen anything else done like this (nor have I looked), but I would certainly buy a copy.
Thank you, Festina
My original posting wasn't meant to feature homeless, but resting - as they all were not homeless. I have few other photos of "street"people that are not restful but jarring, like the ones our UHH friend posted. The one I am posting here might be one of the first digital photo I took. I couldn't resist this one. A few years later, my friend called and told me there was an article about him passing away. She said my photo was much better than the one in the newspaper. The merchants in the neighborhood looked out for "Michael" for years, and contributed to giving him a proper burial. I made an 8x10 and took it to the coffee shop named in the article, framed. I never knew any more about Michael, but the merchant really appreciated the photo which still hangs in the shop. When I looked at the photo again just now, I see a handsome man in there - I love the way he wears his (looks expensive) shirt - listening to his Ipod - happy in his world.
I appreciate your interest and comments.
