I'm new here and wanted to check out some of what the site has to offer! My name is Jay and I've been shooting for just about 3 months. I love every minute that I spend out there creating the art that is captured with my lens, even when it's not the best photograph that comes from my lens, I still cherish it because I can look back at it and come up with some better idea's for the next time I shot the same type of subject/object.
I hope to learn some tricks and trades here. I don't yet own a DSLR and don't plan to in the near future unless I come across one that fits my small budget.
I'm a 27 year old who has a family of 5 total including my very loving wife whom stand by everything I do. Even though she is to honest about some of my photographs, at least I can take her not liking them and create something she will like next time! I'm open for suggestions and critiques instantly as I am not afraid to post my photographs for critiques.
The camera I shoot with is a Canon SX30 IS and I do own all of the accessories/filters/and lens adapters that has been made for it. This camera has been my best friend for about 2 months now as I upgraded from a Olympus 2.0MP digital point and shoot that had nothing more than Auto mode and 2x zoom.
I hope to be welcomed and I really hope the people on this site are far more respectful and can give critiques as they feel it should be given. No matter what you say about my photographs bad or good I'll only learn more from you!
Thanks
Jay
Hi Jay, Welcome to the forums!
My tip for someone as new as you would be to check out some of the basic photographic "rules", such as 'leading lines' and the 'rule of thirds'. You can find that info in here. Further on, when you get into the habit of using those rules, you can start paying attention to lighting/shading, focus, color, etc...
Good luck!
Welcome to the forum Jay...you have an interesting perspective and a great attitude about your photos. I look forward to more postings.
