One of my favorite parks because of all the wildlife is Chollas Lake Park in San Diego. One of the geese I saw yesterday had clawed, webbed feet. I had never seen claws on a goose before, and this was the only goose (of about thirty total) that had claws.

Interesting bird, but not the one in question. My bird had seriously webbed feet which the Magpie Goose does not have. Also, my bird was completely white with an orange bill and blue eyes. The Magpie Goose is black and white. Thanks, though. I like that Magpie Goose. Hope one stops by San Diego!

I remember from visiting my grandmother's farm that some of her her white geese had long toe nails like your photo. They are used to dig up insects. I think they were Embden geese.

This may be an escapee from one of the zoo's and it's probably an exotic from far far away - as Shrek would put it.
