very nice black and white but another one that could have used more of the rule of 3rds. again my eyes stop on the bridge and are not led deeper into the photograph. i would try cropping the photo from the bottom , bringing the bridge down lower into the bottom 3rd. just my suggestion. isnt black and white fantastic for some photos, some just cry out to be done in black and white.

I think it is fine the way it is,if you crop the water to lower the bridge .You lose some of the reflection.The rule of thirds is not written in stone.:)

you are absolutely correct about the rule of 3rds not being written in stone. my view of the photo was not the reflection but the bridge itself and I was just saying that is where my view of the photo stops. I am not drawn into the photo with the bridge centered in the photo as i would be drawn in if the bridge was lowered from the center some. it is a very nice photograph well done, its just my thoughts on what i would play around with and see what it did for the photo.

I agree. I don't get caught up with the "rule" of thirds. I look at what the image looks like and quite actually, I don't think this image has a need for that rule. It is a landscape and pleases my eye as is. Had there been a subject of interest on the bridge, that may have made a difference!

What struck me about this picture is the clarity and tone. I'm assuming you used a tripod. And do I see the footprint of Topaz in the conversion? It's one of the best b&w's that I've seen on UH.

I don't believe I used a tripod for this. I rarely do. But yes, indeed, you do see a hint of topaz! Good eye! And thanks!

It is the eye of the beholder that gives us our perspective.... Sometimes I don't see what the photographer saw when the picture was taken... As in this photo, the reflections were there, but not the main subject of the photo... I saw the bridge first. Great things about opinions, we all have one :P. I really like the B&W and subject is great. Nice job and wow no tripod!
