Some recent shots.
This spider was in my hot tub. I think it was feeding on these termites.
The blue and red of the fly is beautiful! It would make a great avatar or funny post card.
Very Nice, I really like the way that your diffuser is working for you.

Thanks I see it makes a huge difference. I need to replace my tube with some that auto focus. They work fine for stuff that doesn't move around in manual mode. Have you ever set the focus adjustment in camera for your macro lens? My cameras have that feature but I haven't tried to do it.

What do they call that feature?

No I have never set an adjustment on the lenses, I know that my 50D has a micro adjustment but my 60D does not.

On my canon it is called AF Microadjustment. I played with it on some of my other lenses and found 2 of them were off a little bit. The manual explanes it fairly well. All I did was take a shot at an angle of a fence. I auto focused on a post and found that the lens focused slightly beyond the post. You have to use a wide apature to get a narrow depth of field or you wont be acurate. One lens was off +2 and the other was off +1 after setting the adjustment they were both spot on. I think it is going to increase my keeper rate. My camera can remember 50 different lenses and there settings. That includes when they have a multiplier attached. When you set a zoom you set two adjustments one for zoomed out and one for zoomed in.

Nikon calls it "AF Fine-tune". I'll have to check this out with a resolution chart. I believe there are some you can download.
All great - really like the 1st one!
Excellent shots.
I would be really concerned about finding termites in my bathtub. These are reproductives from a termite colony that may be feeding on wood in the foundation or wall. Need to have the house checked and treated in necessary. They can eat you out of house and home, literally. Hope I'm not being a nosy busybody.
They are very common in our area. We have had the house sprayed periodicly to keep them out. You cant spray the whole desert. When it rains they fly out looking for a new nest site.
We live in a relatively moist area so they don't need to come inside for water. If we find them inside it almost always means they are eating on the house, old stumps or roots near the foundation and pose a hazard.
Glad they aren't eating on your house and the predators are working. If someone says they have a spider running around the house I just say they are looking for something live to eat, helps keeps the pest down. It doesn't usually work. I catch them if I can and put them outside.
