Epson V600 scanner cover stuck

The cover to my Epson V600 scanner is stuck in the upright position. How do I fix this?

I solved the problem. The cover must rest on the body of the scanner and then it closes. Cleaver design.

I like the fact that it stays open by itself. My older scanner cover must be held open.
