I haven't had much of a chance to shoot BIF/BOW lately so I thought I might dig a few out of the archives, some old, some not so old. The Long-tailed duck was taken on a rainy day just off the jetty at Barnegat Light State Park on Long Beach Island in NJ. I used a tripod with a gimbal head. Because of the movement of the water, focus could have been an issue. So my Canon 7D was set to AI-Servo. That's tracking focus.

I gotta go with #3 also. I really like shots where the duck is looking at ya. Really, really nice series. The bar keeps getting higher.

Great shots birdpix, like the long-tailed duck, never saw one bfore, even though I grew up on the island just north of LBI
