Historically, when it comes to passing bills, I think this happens all the time regardless of the Political party affiliation. As far as leaving thousands uninsured, well there were thousands uninsured before the bill was passed. I'm curious to see how well the policy will be policed! Stay tuned..........

I think Pelosi was speaking about the Patriot Act. It was being pushed hard by the administration and a traumatized public. Bush said congress could fix any problems later. Of course when later came, Bush's party blocked many attempts at protecting civil rights (2005). They even removed the sunset provision. Now all that power has passed on to the next president, and will be passed to future presidents. Presidents do not relinquish power given to them by congress.



Obamacare took a year to pass. If a lawmaker didn't read it, it was their own fault. At least this bill was actually written by lawmakers. Many laws are now written by corporate lobbyist.



The stand your ground laws and the anti labor laws in Wisc, Ohio, and other states were written by Koch industry lawyers. The Arizona anti immigrant laws were written by a group called "The Eagles Nest", a white supremacist group that lobbied the Arizona legislature.
