I took this photo of the Northern Lights while visiting Anchorage in March of 2011. There are more dramatic photos of the Northern Lights in Alaska, just thought I would share this with al of you UHH Fans.

I had no tripod at the time so I simply propped my camera on a handrail. I really hope to take several more of the Northern Lights before they fade away, it's been overcast in Anchorage a lot recently. Enjoy! :-)
Alaskan Northern Lights Over Anchorage

that guy with the pet is correct ... WOW ...
the color is fine ... composition too
download is real good to view
Thanks Graham, and William! Looking forward to taking more photos like this, was rather surprised that this photo turned out, as there is a lot of light pollution in the midst of the city, compounded with the bright reflective snow. :-)

Hey Bucko, that is an amazing shot. I didn't realize you could see the Northern Lights from Canada. I thought you had to be up the top end of Finland. Well done you

Northern lights are visible in the US as well. The most spectacular that I have seen were in Manitoba in January. They also "crackle" fairly loud if they are overhead. The Dakotas would get the same ones you see in Manitoba. However, on a trip going down to Canyon, Texas, my son and I observed a fantastic display. This was in Utah and it was early September.
