I have a 300mm Zeiss lens that has significant blooming and wonder whether it is worth it to have it cleaned as I've heard the fungus can ruin the coatings thus causing flare.

Hi Rick. If you do repairs you must have some good used lenses, flashes and other goodies. Is that a correct assumption? I will check out your site, that will probably answer my questions.
