Despite the glare on the water you did a good job not only with exposure but with focus, too. Reflective surfaces tend to play hob with Auto Focus in my experience.

Very nice image. I know very little about PP, but could you apply a filter affect to tone down the water? The only common loon I've seen was about 1000 feet away thru a spotting scope. You are fortunate to have been close enough for a good shot. :thumbup: :thumbup:

Yeah, oftentimes high contrast can be fixed with adjustment layers in Photoshop, but sometimes I just can't fix it. I think I'm going to try custom measured light balance settings more; the right white balance is so important. Thank you for the input.

Excellent image .... Sometimes when I don't have a cp with me I shoot the bird on the water image slightly darker than I normally would and then bring it back in post ... seems to do a better job with the water. Still an excellent image!

I like the mercurial look of the reflection Bob.
