What's for dessert? "Holly berries," said the Mockingbird. (6)

Several families of Northern Mockingbirds inhabit my neighborhood most of the year. Their constant singing awakens me almost every night or morning when the weather is nice. Several days ago, it was -7 F when I went for my morning walk. When the sun peeked over the mountain, a Mockingbird began singing from within the shelter of the branches in the Spruce tree in the backyard. I must say, this is a happy specie of birds.

I watched this one feeding on insects in the shubbery, then fly into the Holly tree and begin eating berries. I noticed that with each berry, the bird would roll it in its beak and squeeze, thus softening the firm fruit before swallowing.

I took these pics HH using a Canon EOS 50D w/EF 70-200mm f2.8L lens + 2.0x TC; Tv @ 1/640"; ISO 800; Spot metering; AI Servo @ 5-fps. Cropped and PP w/PSE8.

Enjoy these. Comments welcome.
