At the feeder

I posted this yesterday but apparently it didn't make it in so I'm trying again.
I took this on a rainy day here in Phoenix... imagine that, rain in Phoenix.
Anyway I did a little PP on it and thought I'd ask what you folks think.

The first is straight out of the camera. Below is the PP shot... did I help or hurt the shot, what do you think.

Canon t1i, Canon 28-200, f/5.6, 1/800, ISO 3200 (very dark day)

Not much difference but I do like the second. I notice black color looks more intense and even as well as the red.

I'm going against the grain and saying that I actually prefer the first shot. To me, the bird stands out better against the slightly faded background. Either way, they're great shots. Those li'l birds are awesome.
