A recent visitor to the feeder. Can anyone identify it? Thanks!

Got me. Not a North American bird that i know of. Perhaps a visitor from Cuba of the Islands.

May actually be a Tricolored Blackbird. Didn't think of it because of your location. He's very far from home.

I do think you have it right! The pattern on the wings and back are correct. Thank you so much! I have 2 of them visiting my feeder! Maybe I will have some pajaritos in a few months??

I just love this site for many reasons --- one being identification of critters! Thank you both so much.

Looks like my 30+ years of bird watching have finally paid off.

I have looked online and found a good picture that matches mine. iT is a female. I will keep watch for a male. both are similar to the red winged bb but the tricolor male has red and white on wing ... The red wing bb has red and yellow. I will report back. From what I read, this is not a common bird here.
anyone who can add info, PLEASE do!

Yes it appears to be a black bird. Out here in calif. we also have a white black bird, not very many however.

Its range is the western part of California north into Oregon. Rare for Florida.

Looks to be a Red Wing Black bird. Got out the Sibleys and looks to be a variant 1st year.

I looked at the photo of the immature male red winged bb and it shows and states that the lighter feathers are golden to orange. This bird is definitely black and white. Maybe you are right tho. I will keep searching!

These birds are abundant in the Ft. Lauderdale area, we used to have a lot of red winged black birds but lost most of them during Hurricane Andrew. Perhaps these blew in with Hurricane Wilma!!
