Not ideal for these kind of shots, but I'm actually quite pleased with the results. The third upload is juts something I painted a few years ago. When I saw it sitting around this evening I smacked myself on the head for not photographing it before haha
Again...the watermarks are mine- I have gotten paranoid since I read about what happened to users' photos on Instagram.
Anyways, just curious what you guys think. All of these were taken from anywhere between 3 and 5 feet back using a Nikon 70-300mm lens.
(I'm thinking of making the painting photo into a black and white)
In my humble opinion I think you would have been better using your Nikon 18-55mm and moving in closer.
Here are a couple taken with my 24-70mm, please remove if you do not want them in this stream.
Playing with the light

Well I can most certainly try using that lens, I'll set it up today and post the new result later. Nice shots, by the way!

Cheers I will look forward to seeing them.
My images were taken using just natural daylight. My silver violin does capture part of me as a reflection, I could of Photoshopped it out but its not a good image to start with. It was shot through dirty shop window; but I have never seen a silver violin before!

Neither have I... That's definitely something worth shooting.
As a violinist of 17+ years, I would have been very interested in purchasing it haha
I think they are great just the way they are!
i can see the second one hanging on a wall! :)
Nice shots...I like the isolation provided by the long lens...
One comment; why watermark? Any watermark can be removed in 20 seconds with Photoshop so anyone wanting to steal your image...will do so whether you want them to or not.
I've never understood the watermark thing.

Aside from being able to remove them easily I suppose it's just my way of "signing" what I made.
