More birds sniffing butts

I have been noticing the phenomena occurring more and more lately. I tried googling this subject but found nothing on the subject. Attribute it to global warming perhaps?

Dogs do it, so what's wrong with ducks having a go at it? :D

Great Photos. A quick question? I notice that both ducks have a ring of water behind there necks. What and or why do you think this is?
