I am looking for an opinion on the sony rx100.
Is it all that it says it is?
Is it worth the price or should I wait till the price comes down?
How long has it been for sale?
Thanks, Bill

Check all of the reviews and comparisons online. Google is our friend. But I do think there are 1 or 2 out here that have them and they should be able to help you if they read this.
Good little camera...i considered one, but at that price, I'd rather have my epm2 and 20mm and be able to swap out lenses. Xz-2 is another good advanced point and shoot as is the canon s110, but the iq out of the rx100 is supposed to be great.
I own the Sony DSC RX 100 and I can't say enough good things about this camera. The image quality is amazing given the size of the camera. The feature set, Zeiss F1.8 lens, 20 megapixels, 1"CMOS sensor, the 1080i HD video, all of it in such a simple and compact form. It takes great images and shoots amazing video. The dislikes are minor- LCD can be had to read in bright day light, the micro HDMI output can't be used when camera is on tripod, cost is high for a point and shoot. But we get images out of this camera I can insert along with what we shoot on our D7000's. I work in TV and all of us carry this camera on us.

I am happy that I bought one a few months ago. My main reason was to have a "pocket" camera that could shoot RAW in addition to JPEG. For its size, it has a very large sensor and a Zeiss lens. In order to reduce size, certain features which I don't find necessary, such as a GPS, have been excluded. One problem people complain about is that the pop-up flash in this very compact camera is in a place where your left hand holding the camera wants to put its finger. I have solved that problem with a home-made device of my design which works very well for me and it cost me nothing. I will be happy to share. My only two cameras are this and a Canon 7D.
I really like the idea of carrying it in my pocket almost anywhere for that unexpected opportunity when you wish you had a camera. There is no doubt that within the year other manufacturers will come with similar small rivals at perhaps better prices, but right now there is no rival for that small size.
Amazing little camera. I have had mine since they first came out. The only thing I would like to see on it would be a viewfinder. Have trouble in sunlight.

I have one RCX 100 and find the results rivaling my old Canon 10 D with much better color and weight. The unit is just amazing especially for it's compact size. Friends find that my photographs rival anything they are accustomed to seeing on larger DSLR's.
The quality is just amazing and has made me believe I need to take a hard look at the Sony DSLR's when I want to replace my 10D. I have 7 lenses that go with my Canon so that is a hard one to think through!???
I felt as though I was really sticking my "neck" out when I first bough my RCX 100 but, not, I never give it a second thought!
I love it!
Sonny
PS: I found a magnified viewfinder hood to go over my screen which helps me see when outside in bright sunshine!
Worth many times the $15.00 paid for it! Much better than looking through a viewfinder?

I love it too. Can you tell us what is the name or supplier of the viewfinder?
Yes please share with us where you bought the viewfinder. Thank you.
I would be interested in your gadget for the flash.
I am pretty sure that I am going to order one. Do you know where I can get the best deal?

I have to take pictures of it because it is the only way to explain. I will post the pictures and description in this thread probably tomorrow. Watch the thread tomorrow.
Where can I find the magnified viewfinder?
I could not find the picture for the flash gadget for the sony rx100.
Could you tell me where it is posted
I'm on a 7,000 mile cross country bicycle trip and posting to Facebook daily with resized pics from my RX-100. <
https://www.facebook.com/2013CallToAdventure>I have followers that are pro shooters and they compliment me on some of my shots. That's good enough for me.
The camera is small enough for traveling by bicycle and high enough quality for almost any purpose. I had a Sony DSLR and this is superior to that. I guard it with my life.
