I think perhaps it's my mind. I know that in PS there's a way to make a contact sheet because I've done it. But for the life of me I can't find the command. I use CS5. Can anyone tell me where to find that action command?

Here is a link to Adobe on making a contact sheet: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WS42C3020A-DAD1-4f92-8014-012263F3A51D.html

I thought I could print contact sheets using CS4 (could not locate the option) Had to use an inferior editor programme which did not allow much alteration of the raw images.

Hi AzPic.... I think you'll find it under File: Automate: Contact Sheet. Just navigate to your folder when choose number of thumbnails per sheet, hit OK and PS does the rest

I use CS3 so CS5 might tuck it away somewhere else. Hope this helps. Using Photoshop Help tab can be useful too :-)

A great feature, and one I used to make this some years ago. Just look at the options carefully, and choose no titles, not gaps, and don't flattern. Then mask and free transform each layer to get the overlap.

It does not come as standard with later versions, but is there if download the Extras along with some other 'classic' features.

No, it's not there. I had CS2 before, and I'm almost certain I've done a contact sheet in CS5 from a simple command in the program! I feel like such an idiot!

OK, I tried doing it through Bridge (where I thought perhaps I had done it before). It's really different and not exactly what I have done before, but I guess it will work. I wonder why they take out the really good tools and add in tools we don't use! GRRRR!

I've downloaded the plug-in for CS5 that includes the contact sheet automation. I've extracted the files from the zip file that downloaded. This is a really stupid question, but now how do I get those files into my CS5 program? I tried the "import" but that's for totally different stuff.

They took it out of CS5 and moved bits of it to Bridge ( not as good) but I didn't know there was a plug in for it. I'll look for it. Thanks!
I have a copy of CS3 that I use just for making contact sheets.

I used the link that jldeichman gave in the first response to my query. Took me directly to the downloads from Adobe. Thanks, jl. Now to get the plug-ins into PS!

In CS5 on my Mac, I need to run Photoshop in 32-bit mode to access 'Automate'>'Contact Sheet II' (and some other functions). Since I use the Contact Sheet a lot, I just run it in 32-bit all the time...

It is in 32-bit. At least that's what it says.

OK, spent some time googling stuff and finally discovered that I have to put the file into the "plug-in" folder. Did so and reopened CS5. It says that the files aren't correct format, but it did finally open and yes, I now have the Contact Sheet II command! Yeah!!!!! Why do they make things so difficult?

Why, so you'll buy CS6, of course! ;-)

Download and run Faststone's free Image Viewer Program. Click on Create and then Contact Sheet Builder. Have a blast. It takes less than 30 minutes to build a nice contact sheet.
