Flare from using tubes

Blurryeyed and I have been talking about this, as he's mention having a problem with flare using tubes. Not sure if this is the same problem. I've noticed this before using the tubes but after our talk last night I paid more attention. Before I thought maybe something was coming into contact with the lens as I was shooting in the field with a reduced working distance, putting my lens in the brush many times. Here's a few of the shots. What I remembers is I was shooting against a solid back ground and thinking maybe the flash bounced back down the tubes creating this contrasty look. Has anyone of you tube shooters experience this before??

Looks like a milky film over the lens. I can adjust contrast and it seems to help

Yes, that is flare, it causes the image to be really soft and in bad cases will show up as a reddish blotch, here is an example. You can see that the top portion of this pic is pretty solid and, the lower portion where the flare is showing up has a reddish tint and the lower portion of the image is soft... This image has had no processing whatsoever. You can fix it to some extent in PP but it is rare that you can make an image as strong as it should have been in the first place... It is caused by stray light bouncing around in your lens.

I'm looking at your photo and notice what looks like a dense/solid background. I'm going to pay more attention to when I get this flare and try to work around it. My only shots today when this occurred was related to a solid background. While in the open/out in the sun and in the bush this never happened.

Yes, that is flare, it causes the image to be real... (show quote)
