John, thanks. I was in the yard working and heard this chirp that made me think it was something other than the usual Blue Jay, etc. Looked up and saw him, went in got camera and he was still there looking around!

Kinda looks like a Red Shoulder Hawk...but the head is way to white...and the beak looks very different.

The best I can do is that it may be a Broad-winged Hawk. They do live in your area.
birder, thank you for investigating. I think most opinions feel the bird is in the Hawk family.

It's a Red-Shouldered Hawk. (Buteo lineatus) The Florida subspecies have very light heads and "faded" colors on the body. Northeast species are darker, and California birds are very dark.
