The 2 Jims are a tough act to follow. MGstrawn is our host and I her co-host. I'll get the thread started and MG will pick it up a little later tonight.
The topic is "Winterscapes". What does the last weekend of January look like in your neighborhood, your part of the country or in your corner of the world? Maybe your plan is to "winter Escape". If so, show us how you like to escape winter - sitting by a fire, buried in blankets reading a book, in a warmer place.
Here are 2 short videos. One with simple tips for photographing snow scenes. The other a National Geographic one dealing with bright sunlight and photographic options to consider. Videos are 1 - 2 3/4 minutes.
The National Geographic Bright Light Photography (some black and white tips too)

Here are some winterscapes from Maine. Most were captured today. -8 at 6 AM and about 8F when the pictures were taken
A pale hued morning at the coast complete with sea smoke and cloud bank off in the distance
Sun had been up for about an hour
Changed it to B/W for Bushido
Saltwater slushy waves
Mini-icebergs along the shore
Traps waiting for another day, boats waiting for a warmer day?
We have woods too
Some winterscapes can be dramatic or humorous - is this house winking? Looks like one window (eye) is closed and the other open.
"Why didn't someone tell me the pool was closed?!"
And finally - escape if you can!
this one might be fun although in some parts of Colorado there is always a weekend getaway with temps in the 60's year round. Lead the way Mom!

Thanks, son. Sounds good. So is January in your part of Colorado drab? Have color? Can you see mountains in the distance?
Like the CCR song doo..doo..doo...doo... Out my back door LOL. I can see the mountains from my kitchen window but they are about a one hour drive from here. I live in pueblo, Colorado. But we are about to move further south to Walsenburg, which is 45 minutes south from here. Found a house with 5 acres for rent. $550 a month!!! Three bedroom

I just want temps in the 20's or above 0 please...
Pat, I couldn't wait to see the photos that you took today and I was not disappointed! They are awesome, and, boy, does that Maine coastline look cold! Thank you for co-hosting and sharing your amazing winterscapes! And braving that sub-zero wind ~

Annette, I saw one of my friends who now lives in Minnesota and we were having some high 20's temps in January, which is unusually cold for Georgia. I was complaining about being cold and she told me, "Honey, where I come from this is considered a heat wave!" So, I hope a 'heat wave' comes your way, soon!
G'nite all and THANK YOU for ALL
