Found a few bee's on my hummingbird feeder

Well it did not freeze the last two nights as it's been raining and today I had a few bee's on the hummingbird feeder, and got to try my homemade soft box on Nikon D7000/ with Nikkor 105D lens with two auto tubes a 36mm & a 20mm with a Nikon SB800 speed light. ISO 320, 1/200sec at f/22.

I think that I see good focus and resolution, but I cannot download & enlarge to confirm.
How close is your softbox to bee? The closer, the better (reduced flash).

I forgot to store the original here it is, and my soft box is out at the end of my lens, I was about 6 inchs from the bee's

The soft box was about 3-4 inchs from the bee's, and the flash was set at 1/4th power

that sounds like what i do,but with new batterys i use 1/8 power then half to go to 1/4 later.tom

Roger, Looks like your really nailing the focus. Might have to turn the flash up just a bit. 1/200 second is enough to stop camera shake and to stop action. I never worry about how low I can turn my flash down, I worry about enough light. Even when I have to turn the flash up all the way I still nail the focus, even if the flash duration is longer. Also a quality paper towel is the best diffuser material. Maybe Not turn up the flash, but looks like the flash is to far forward and shooting over the subject. The bottom half is in the shade/shadows. I shoot outwards and slightly down. In some of my reverse lens stacks my working distance is One Inch, so I can not be forward of the lens, just behind, hope this helps
