We were always told when the Robins (Redbreast) came through heading north that spring would follow shortly. On this past Tuesday the Robins and Cedar Waxwings invaded my neighborhood refueling for the flight north. Tried some BIF but these little suckers fly to fast.

Robins occasionally winter-over, even in Maine. And they certainly never leave the area I live in now, central WA. Have been watching them, and the cedar waxwings, eating from fruit trees all winter. In a way, I miss that harbinger of spring you mention.

Don't plan on spring yet! You have to see robins in pairs otherwise it's still winter: Robins in pairs, Spring is there!
